Routes to 2246 Space Research (the auditorium)

Route 1 (from front door on Hayward Street)

Route 1
This is the front entrance of the Space Research Building, 2455 Hayward Street.
Route 1
Enter through the main front door into the lobby of the building.
Route 1 Cross the lobby to the left and enter the stairwell via the dark green door to the left of the telephone. Proceed upstairs. Route 1 At the top of the stairs, exit the stairwell and turn left through a wooden door and then turn left again.
Route 1 Proceed across the balcony that overlooks the lobby and then turn left by the sign that announces "Atmospheric, Oceanic & Space Sciences". Route 1 Follow the corridor to the first door on the right (a sign next to the door points to 2246 and other rooms).
Route 1 Go through this door and follow the corridor down to the lounge area. Route 1 The lounge area is at the end of this corridor, look for the entrance to 2246 which should be the fourth door on your left.
Route 1 This is the entrance to the auditorium, the door will be open if the presentation has not started. Route 1 As you can see this door opens on the front of the auditorium.

Route 2 (from parking lot at the rear of the building)

Route 2 This picture is taken from the approximate middle of the parking lot, looking south towards the area behind the air conditioning unit. This is the area that leads to the loading dock. Head towards the parking area that leads to the loading dock. There is a door in the north facing wall opposite you. It may be obscured by white trucks, as it is in this picture. They are a semi-permanent fixture in the parking lot. Route 2 Continue towards the building and you will see the door in question, again do not be concerned that there may be trucks obscuring the door, it is there and it is open in the day time.
Route 2 Go up the steps and through the door. Be careful in winter, since the door is not one of the main entrances, then it may not be well de-iced. Route 2 On entering the building head directly upstairs via the stairs ahead of you.
Route 2 At the top of the stairs you may turn either right or left. Route 2 If you turn left, you head up the ramp to the door that opens on the back of the auditorium, room 2246. This is the ideal entrance for late arrivals, when the presentation may have begun, as it brings you into the back of the auditorium.
Route 2 View of the back of the auditorium through the rear doors. Route 2 If you turn right at the sign above, you will go through this door into the corridor beyond.
Route 2 Continue along the corridor and turn right and go through the door labeled 2249L, this takes you to the lounge outside the auditorium. Route 2 The auditorium is the second door on the right as you walk through the lounge.
Route 2 This is the entrance to the auditorium, the door will be open if the presentation has not started. Route 2 As you can see this door opens on the front of the auditorium.

Route 3 (Handicapped accessible route from parking lot at the rear of the building)

Route 3 Handicapped parking is available in the Space Research Building parking lot, please contact EMAL staff for a parking permit. These spaces above are directly across from the eastern-most building entrance that opens directly onto the parking lot. Route 3 This is a view of the buliding entrance from the the handicapped spaces shown on the left. There is a good curb-cut here.
Route 3 Enter the building here, there are two sets of double doors, neither of them powered and so access can be tricky. Route 3 This is the second set of double doors, go through them and look for the elevator on the immediate right hand side.
Route 3 Access the elevator and ride to the second floor. Route 3 You will see this sign as you exit the elevator, it is somewhat ambiguous, but it does mean that the auditorium is to the right.
Route 3 Follow this corridor away from the elevator and turn right at the end. Route 3 Continue to follow this corridor after turning right and make for the double wooden doors at the end.
Route 3 Proceed through these doors. Route 3 You now have a choice, if you want to proceed to the front of the auditorium, via the lounge, then turn left. If you want to proceed to the rear of the auditorium, then turn left. The rear of the auditorium has more space for wheelchair access than the front.
Route 3 For the front of the auditorium, turn left and continue along the corridor and turn right and go through the door labeled 2249L, this takes you to the lounge outside the auditorium. Route 3 This is the entry door to 2249L, the lounge which is outside the auditorium. Proceed through this door.
Route 3 The auditorium is the second door on the right as you go through the lounge. Route 3 This is the entrance to the auditorium, the door will be open if the presentation has not started.
Route 3 As you can see this door opens on the front of the auditorium. Route 3 If at the last sign mentioned above you turn left, then you need to go through this door to proceed to the rear of the auditorium.
Route 3 Follow the corridor past the stairs and turn left. Route 3 If you turn left, you head up the ramp to the door that opens on the back of the auditorium, room 2246. This is the ideal entrance for late arrivals, when the presentation may have begun, as it brings you into the back of the auditorium. There is also good wheelchair access here.
